“The science of mantra is based on the knowledge that sound is a form of energy having structure, power, and a definite predictable effect on the chakras and the human psyche…Mantra is a powerful combination of words which, if recited, takes the vibratory effect of each of your molecules into the Infinity of the Cosmos.”
-Yogi Bhajan
The music in Kundalini Yoga is an integral and often powerful part of the experience and I am often asked where to find the tracks that I use. If there is something you love in the class then please ask me straight away!
Here are some of my favourites so I would suggest these as a starting point and listen to them on the links below and take it from there…
Kamari & Manvir (aka the Kamari Project – all their albums) – electronic and dancey & also more chilled relaxation music with Manvir’s beautiful voice
Siri Sadhana Kaur (Aloka’s Grace, Awakening Heart, Ancient Keeper) – uplifting, soul stirring
Benjahmin – for a reggae flavour
Mirabai Ceiba – beautiful and heart opening
Snatam Kaur – long time artist with an angelic voice
Jai- Jagdeesh – moving lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful person
And a couple of tracks I’ve been asked about recently that I’ve used during relaxation are Holy Harmony by Jonathan Goldman, a well know sound healer, and Ajai Alai by Guru Shabd Singh Khalsa which is for the Radiant Body.
Playing any of this music in the background will be a wonderful, powerful and easy way to change your energy and how you feel.
Websites & Apps:
Satnam.eu, Spirit Voyage, and or buy it locally in the UK from here if you are getting a CD. And of course there is always iTunes and amazon, spotify or youtube etc.
You could also search the Apps – there is one called Gurbani Media Centre that plays western flavoured kundalini music on one of it’s channels 24/7. And another is on tunein radio called AdiShaktnet.com
